A variety of booths were set up Wednesday evening at Central Christian Church in Huntingburg for Community Connect. The informational event aimed to provide resources to people of all ages through organizations ranging from the American Red Cross to the Huntingburg Public Library. While her older siblings walked around, Annabelle Blount of Huntingburg, 2, showed her father, Bruce, the body parts she learned. “I was trying to see if she knows all of her body parts,” Bruce said. “Turns out she knows most of them.”

Alexis Blount, 7, watched as her Ozobot, a robot that reads code as colored lines that users draw, correctly follow the coded path she created. Program Assistant with Purdue Extension Dubois County Office Lauren Fenneman brought the robots for children to tryout during the Community Connect. "Our 4-H program is open to K-12 and it provides life skills to kids and it's something other than school sports for kids to participant in," Fenneman said.

Sheral Stanton helped Annabelle Colvin, 5, left, Tegan Taylor, 7, and Corinna Colvin, 5, all of Huntingburg, pick out free books. "We're trying to immerse the home with literacy," Stanton said. "Early childhood literacy is so important." The free books ranged in pre-kindergarten to sixth grade reading levels.
