Sharpshooters top three at competition

JASPER — The Southern Indiana Sharpshooters, sponsored by The American Legion Post 147 of Jasper, competed in the Southern Indiana Air Rifle Shooting Series at their home range in Jasper on Nov. 25.
Shooting athletics from various shooting clubs in southern Indiana competed in the three positions, 3-by-10 match. This match requires each shooter to fire 10 record shots at three separate 10 bull targets from the prone, standing and kneeling positions at a distance of 10 meters.
The top three shooters are Emilee Seitz (gold medal) with a score of 264 and four bulls, Richie Block (silver medal) with a score of 260 and five bulls and Maggie Holt (bronze medal) with a score of 257 and five bulls. The maximum score is 300.
Seitz is a member of the Southern Indiana Sharpshooters of Jasper. She is a junior at the Seitz Homeschool Academy. Block is a member of the American Legion Post 67 Junior Shooting Club of Versailles. He is a junior and attends Reply High School in Versailles. Holt is a member of the American Legion Post 67 Shooting Club of Versailles. She is a junior and attends Reply High School in Versailles.
The Junior Shooting Sports Program has exploded in growth in the past five years in southern Indiana with shooting clubs now established in Jasper, Seymour, Versailles, Shoals and Georgetown. It’s a program usually sponsored by a local American Legion Post, but can be organized and sponsored by any shooting organization or started from the ground up.
