Sharpshooters hold shooting match

The Southern Indiana Sharpshooters, sponsored by The American Legion Post 147 of Jasper, held a scheduled Southern Indiana Air Rifle Shooting Match at their range in the basement of the American Legion Post on Dec. 8.

There were 36 shooting athletes from various shooting clubs in Southern Indiana competing in the three positions, 3 by 10 match. The match requires each shooter to fire 10 record shots at three separate 10 bull targets from the prone, standing and knelling positions at a distance of 10 meters.

The top three shooters are were Emilee Seitz (gold medal) with a score of 262 and six bulls, Trenton Franklin (silver medal) with a score of 256 and six bulls, and Abigayle Seitz (bronze medal) with a score of 251 and four bulls. The maximum score is 300.

Sisters Emilee and Abby, members of the Southern Indiana Sharpshooters, are the daughters of Katrina and Mark Seitz of Velpen. Trenton, a member of the American Legion Shooting Club of Versailles, is the son of Tony and Leann of Versailles.

The Junior Shooting Sports Program has shooting clubs established in Jasper and throughout southern Indiana.
