Sharpshooters compete with air riflesMarch 19, 2019
The Southern Indiana Sharpshooters, sponsored by The American Legion Post 147 of Jasper, competed in the Southern Indiana Air Rifle series final match at the Seymour American Legion Post 89 Indiana on Feb. 23.
The Air Rifle Series consists of five matches at varies shooting clubs. There were 50 shooting athletics from various shooting clubs in Southern Indiana competing in the three position, 3-by-10 series matches. The matches required each shooter to fire 10 record shots at three separate 10 bull targets from the prone, standing and kneeling positions at a distance of 10 meters. The maximum score was 300.
Emilee Seitz placed first with an average score of 259.6. She is a member of the Southern Indiana Sharpshooters, sponsored by the American Legion Post 147 of Jasper. She is the daughter of Katrina and Mark Seitz of Velpen. She is a sophomore and attends the Seitz Homeschool Academy.
Placing second was John Hamilton with an average score of 253.8. He is a member of the (Young Guns) Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club located in Georgetown. He is the son of Paul and Paula Hamilton of Georgetown. He is a junior and attends Lanesville High School.
Maggie Holt placed third with an average score of 255.4. She is a member of the American Legion Shooting Club in Versailles. She is the daughter of Batesville Police Chief Stan and Jody Holt of Milan. She is a sophomore at Lighthouse Christian Academy of Batesville.
The Junior Shooting Sports Program has shooting clubs established in Jasper, Seymour, Versailles, Shoals and Georgetown.
