Sewer testing brings smoke report
May 13, 2020From Local Sources
JASPER — No fire was found Tuesday morning after someone in the area of a south-side office building reported smoke coming from under its roof.
Units of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department were called at 10:22 a.m. to the Farm Bureau Insurance building at 1217 Wernsing Road.
Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang was able to have three responding trucks return to the station after it was determined smoke testing was occurring in the area. Smoke testing is a typical tool for sewer systems to test for points of inflow or cross connections with storm drains.
Twenty-seven firefighters were on the scene 10 minutes.
