HUNTINGBURG — A semi tractor-trailer backed into a passenger car Wednesday morning west of Huntingburg.
Truck driver Lewis D. Nickell, 48, Wewahitchka, Florida, said he had passed his turn on County Road 400W when the 10 a.m. mishap occurred north of County Road 500S, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Nickell put his 1986 Peterbilt into reverse and did not notice a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu behind his rig.
Police said the semi trailer struck the front of the Chevrolet driven by Guerrero F. Volcy, 27, Washington.
Damage to the car was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500, while the semi trailer did not appear to have been damaged.
