Seitz earns Top Shooter Award

Emilee Seitz, a member of the Southern Indiana Sharpshooters, sponsored American Legion Post 147 of Jasper, was awarded the Top Shooter Award for the State of Indiana during the 2020 Indiana Civilian Marksmanship 3 PAR State Championship at the Hancock County 4-H Grounds on Jan. 12.

The 3-by-20-inch match requires each shooter to fire 60 record shots at separate targets from the prone, standing and knelling positions at a distance of 10 meters. Seitz shot 523 and seven bulls from a possible 600. With this win, she is automatically invited to attend the CMP Regional Match at Camp Perry Ohio in late March. Placing second was Richie Block with a score of 516 and 11 bulls and third was Maggie Holt with a score of 513 and 5. Block and Holt are members of the Versailles American Legion Shooting Club.

Seitz is the daughter of Katrina and Mark Seitz of Velpen. She is a junior and attends the Seitz Home School Academy.
