Season comes to an end for golfers

Despite a few strong performances, the season wrapped up for the area boys golf teams on Thursday night as no local teams or individuals qualified for the IHSAA State Finals at Carmel.

Center Grove, Floyd Central and Madison were the three advancing teams from the IHSAA Regional at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville while individuals from Bedford North Lawrence, Corydon Central, Jeffersonville, Columbus North and Southwestern (Hanover) also advanced.

Jasper finished eighth overall with a team score of 325, Heritage Hills finished 16th with a team score of 356 and Southridge’s Coby Reller finished with an individual score of 94.

Jasper’s Bryan Hagan was one stroke away from advancing to the state finals as an individual as he finished with a 74 while the final advancing individual finished with a 73. Jack Bies had a 79, Evan Wolfe fired an 84, Avery Hollinden finished with an 88 and Landon Kissel finished with a 92.

For Heritage Hills, Carter Cox led the way with an 80 while Rylan Cox had an 83, Mitch Blasdel finished with a 93, Josh Nelson finished at 100 and Carson Leibering fired a 103.
