From Local Sources

WILLIAMS — Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officers are searching for two men swept away Tuesday in the East Fork of the White River just downstream of Williams Dam.

Conservation officers and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location southwest of Bedford at 10 a.m. after witnesses said two males attempting to wade across the main river channel to an island were swept away by the current.

Authorities said sonar units, divers and boats were searching the area where the men were last seen.
