WILLIAMS — Searchers have recovered the bodies of two men swept away Tuesday in the East Fork of the White River just downstream of Williams Dam.
Conservation officers and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to the location southwest of Bedford at 10 a.m. Tuesday after witnesses said two males attempting to wade across the main river channel to an island were swept away by the current.
Authorities say the body of Cung Hu, 38, Indianapolis, was recovered a half mile south of the Williams Dam at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday.
Then, at 6:47 p.m., conservation officers located the body of Hrang Mang, 42, Indianapolis.
Sonar units, divers and boats were used to search the area where the men were last seen. Authorities say the incident is still under investigation.
