Schank named Optimist of the MonthMarch 6, 2019
HUNTINGBURG — Tucker Schank, 19, son of Dave and Alisa Schank, is the Huntingburg Optimist Youth of the Month for March.
While in high school, Tucker has been a member of the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Freshman Mentors and German Club. He also has been a four-year member of the football, wrestling and baseball teams.
In football, Tucker was a three-year All-Conference running back, a two-year All-State running back, a three-year All-Southwest team member, a member of the 2019 North/South All-Star team and a member of the 2018 2A state football champs. In addition, he is the career leading scorer, and has the most rushing yards and the most all-purpose yards.
In wrestling, he was a four-time sectional champion and a two-time conference champ, regional champ and two-time state finalist. In addition, he was a two-time warrior classic champ and the Harrison 10-way champion.
In baseball, he was an All-Conference outfielder and an All-State honorable mention outfielder.
After graduation, Schank plans to attend Indiana University where he will study sports marketing and management or kinesiology.
