Schank makes return in Raider rout over ChargersOctober 5, 2018
From Herald Staff Reports
The Southridge Raiders welcomed back a familiar face on Friday evening in Petersburg when they took on PAC foe Pike Central.
After missing the team’s past six games due to a lingering back injury, senior running back Tucker Schank returned to the starting lineup for the Raiders and had 114 yards and three total touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) as Southridge cruised to a 48-0 victory.
The Raiders (6-2, 5-1) scored on their very first play from scrimmage as Schank took a Colson Montgomery handoff 49-yards to make it 7-0 in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Montgomery started to show off his speed as he scrambled for TD runs of 69 and 17 yards to quickly make it 21-0 Raiders. Near the end of the half, he started showing his arm strength as Montgomery rifled off two touchdown throws to Schank (a 28-yarder) and Garrett Voegerl (a 59-yarder) to put the Raiders ahead 35-0 at the halftime break.
The Raiders would score two more times before the end of the game as Schank found the end zone for the third time on a nine-yard rush and Parker Kippenbrock scored on a 23-yard touchdown with 3:15 left in the third quarter for the final score of the game.
Colson Montgomery was 3-of-6 passing for 94 yards and two touchdowns while Tucker Schank led the way in rushing with seven carries for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Montgomery (86) and Parker Kippenbrock (56) both also rushed for over 50 yards.
The Raiders will wrap up their regular season next Friday in Fort Branch as they’ll face Pocket Athletic Conference foe Gibson Southern on the road.
