JASPER — The Book cellar, located in the basement of the Library Annex, 1103 Main St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. The Book Cellar will reopen on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020.
Visitors to the Book Cellar on Saturday who buy one item will get a second item of equal or lesser value free. In addition, the total sale price will be reduced based on the amount spent. There will be other specials throughout the store.
In the restocked clearance room, customers can fill a paper grocery bag for $1.
Organized by fiction and non-fiction genres, the Book Cellar and offers books, DVDs, CDs, puzzles, music sheets and vintage vinyl records The Special Collections section offers new books, first editions, signed books, vintage books and collectibles, each individually priced.
The Book Cellar features a collection of German books (most genres) in both German and English; the display of sets of books in a series or collection; and the duplicate/discounted book shelves and Special Collections.
The Book Cellar requests customers bring small bills when shopping as they are unable to make change for $20 on small purchases. Credit Cards can be used for minimum $5 purchase.
The Book Cellar is stocked primarily from community donations. Smaller donations of lightly used books can be dropped off in the collection box located on the main floor of the library annex or inside the entrance to the main library when it is open. For larger donations, call or text Betty at 812-827-8384 or email her at FOTJPL@gmail.com to arrange a drop-off time at the Book Cellar. Some items are not accepted, including magazines, Reader’s Digests, older textbooks and encyclopedias.
