From Local Sources
HUNTINGBURG — A motorist’s problem with a sandal resulted in her car striking a dollar store Tuesday afternoon.
Victoria J. Schulthise, Huntingburg, was pulling a 2016 Buick passenger car into a parking spot at the Dollar General Store at 1710 N. Main St. at the time of the 2:36 p.m. mishap, according to the Huntingburg Police Department.
As she pulled into the parking stall on the north side of the store, police said, Shulthise’s sandal slipped off her foot and became stuck on the car’s accelerator pedal. The Buick drove over the parking curb, slamming into the north side of the building, according to police.
Metal siding on the store was pushed in and the Buick sustained front-end damage and a flattened driver’s side tire.
There were no injuries.
Damage to the car and to the building was estimated to have exceeded $2,500 for each.
A KARS wrecker assisted.
