Sale includes restored Calumet, house and acreage

From Local Sources

JASPER — Built in 1941, the Calumet at 2210 N. Mill Street has been a dance hall, skating rink, a restaurant and a bar.

Now, it's for sale in a package that also includes a newly remodeled five-bedroom, three-bath home and a lake. It all sits on nearly 22 acres.

Larry Lillpop of Newburgh closed on the historic 14,000-square-foot building last December after purchasing the neighboring Calumet Lake and house properties in July 2015. In a story in The Herald, he said he knew he had his work cut out for him. He liked the historic properties, but said the Calumet “had been let go to the point where it probably needed to be torn down.”

But being a contractor for almost 20 years, Lillpop said he could see the building had good bones. So, the cleanup and restoration process began and now the property is ready to sell.

The listing on First Advantage Realty says "the Calumet has a large, well lit parking lot and gives you an endless amount of opportunities —weddings, showers, receptions, holiday parties, dinner parties — with seating for up to 800 in the 13,434 sq. ft. building."
