Ruhe, Gordon receive honors

From Herald Staff Reports

Two local girls basketball players were selected by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association as All-State honorable mention selections.

Jasper’s Kortney Ruhe was selected for the senior honorable mention All-State team while Heritage Hills sophomore Rebekah Gordon was selected to the underclassmen honorable mention All-State group. The IBCA/Subway All-State teams are selected through a process organized by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and presented by Subway Restaurants of Indiana.

Ruhe has already received several other recognitions since her senior year with the Wildcats wrapped up. She was selected to the Big Eight all-conference team, the Hoosier Basketball Coaches Association all-district team as well as one of the HBCA’s regional all-star selections.

She led the Wildcats in scoring as she averaged 12.8 points per game and was also one of Jasper’s most vocal players both with her teammates and leadership on the court as well as behind the scenes at practices and workouts.

In just her first two years of varsity high school basketball, Gordon has made quite the impact for Heritage Hills. She was an all-conference selection in the Pocket Athletic Conference thanks to her contributions in scoring (16.5 points per game) and rebounding (8.1 rebounds per game).

The Patriots are led by a stellar young core including fellow sophomore Avery Neff and freshman Hadley Lytton, who were both PAC all-conference selections.
