Ronald J. Schaefer, 76, Dale
October 15, 2020Ronald J. Schaefer, 76, of Dale passed away on Tuesday, October 13th peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Ronnie was born in Adyeville on January 26, 1944 to Hilbert and Leona (Persohn) Schaefer. He was united in marriage to Rita “Ridy” Litkenhus on June 26, 1965 it Saint Joseph Church in Dale.

Ronnie was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Church. He was a former President of the parish council, was on the maintenance committee, and an usher. He formerly played bass guitar in the choir. He was selected into the Simon Brute’ Society. He was a member of Mariah Hill Conservation Club, and Jasper Outdoor Recreation Club. He enjoyed playing golf with his three sons, woodworking, and being with family. Ronnie retired from Kimball after 51 years of service.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Rita “Ridy” Schaefer, three sons, Jeff (Lisa) Schaefer and Jim (Kyla) Schaefer both of Dale, and Joe (Kathy) Schaefer of Bardstown, Ky. six grandsons ,one granddaughter, and two great granddaughters. Two brothers, Jerry (Ruth) Schaefer and Stanley (Linda) Schaefer both of Jasper. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, October 19th at 10:00 AM CT in St. Joseph Church in Dale. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 CT Sunday at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, and after 9:00 AM CT Monday at the church.
