Rolling stop leads to OWI accusation

JASPER — A motorist’s rolling stop early Saturday resulted in his arrest for alleged impaired driving.

A Jasper Police Department officer stopped a Ford Ranger pickup truck at 3:54 a.m. after observing it fail to come to a complete stop at Third and Newton streets

After allegedly showing signs of impairment, the driver, Jason C. Schipp, 28, 4180 Pinehurst Drive, Jasper, was given a certified test at the Jasper Police Station that established his blood alcohol content at .086 percent.

Authorities booked Schipp into the Dubois County Security Center at 6 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. He posted bond that afternoon.
