ROCKPORT — Indiana State Police South SWAT team members forced entry into a residence west of Rockport to successfully end an 8-hour standoff with a barricaded man they took into custody Wednesday morning.
The incident began at 12:30 a.m. ET when Jasper Post troopers and Spencer County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the report of a domestic dispute with shots fired on Spencer County Road 850W.
Police arrived and determined a man was inside a home and his wife had fled.
Officers set up a perimeter and began negotiating with Eric Hall, 33, of Rockport.
Police say Hall had reportedly become agitated for unknown reasons and had fired a weapon.
SWAT forced entry at about 8:30 a.m. and placed Hall under arrest.
Authorities booked Hall into the Spencer County Jail on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony criminal recklessness with a firearm and misdemeanor resisting law enforcement.
Spencer County Emergency Medical Services also assisted.
