Robert F. "Bob" Bleemel, age 78, of Hillman, Indiana, passed away at 10:46 a.m. at home of his daughter.
Bob was born in Celestine, Indiana, on July 11, 1942, to August and Rosa (Merter) Bleemel. He married Sandra Bleemel on May 1, 1965, in St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2014.
Bob was a 1960 graduate of Dubois High School.
He was a United States veteran, serving as a sergeant in the Army National Guard, retiring after 21 and a half years of service.
He retired from Huntingburg Machine Works, where he had been a licensed plumber for many years.
Bob was a member of St. Isidore Parish - St. Raphael's Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #147, where he was a former post commander.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed doing puzzles, watching Westerns, reading, and spending time with his dog, Abby, especially taking her for four-wheeler rides.
Bob also volunteered to drive the veterans to their appointments.
Surviving are four children, Harold (Sarah) Bleemel, French Lick, IN, Cathy (Glen) Siddons, St. Anthony, IN, Susan (Troy) Fullerton, Jasper, IN, Staci Rhoderick, and companion, Barry Wright, Huntingburg, IN, seven grandchildren, Jenna and Zach Bleemel, Megan Jackson, Logan Mundy, and Dylan Mundy, Josh Fullerton, and Jaci Rhoderick, six great grandchildren, Levi and Paisley Leonard, Kynlee, Mason and Liam Jackson, and Sebastian Cornwell, one sister, Janet (Earl) Epple, Jasper, IN, and one brother, Leroy (Donna) Bleemel, Jasper, IN.
Preceding him in death besides his wife, is one brother, Herman Bleemel.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert F. "Bob" Bleemel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2020, in St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana, with burial to follow at a later date in the church cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Monday.
