Road construction confusion cited in mishap
May 28, 2019From Local Sources
JASPER — A driver ticketed after a Thursday mishap stated she was confused by road construction in the area of 30th and Newton streets and thought she could disregard a red light.
Brian Truelove, Grand Haven, Michigan, was eastbound on Northwood Avenue in a 2015 Dodge Ram van at the time of the 10:12 a.m. accident, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Truelove had stopped for a red light and then proceeded when the light turned green for eastbound and westbound vehicles.
Police said Truelove’s van was struck by a northbound 2017 Toyota RAV4 driven by Ollie Hobbs, Huntingburg.
An officer cited Hobbs for disregarding an automatic traffic control device after the collision.
Damage was estimated at $10,000 to each of the vehicles.
