Riverview donates backpacks to Spencer Co kids

From Local Sources

DALE — More than 100 backpacks were handed out by the Lincolnland Economic Development Corporation at Wednesday’s North Spencer County School Corporation back-to-school event at Heritage Hills High School.

Nearly 20 community agencies and businesses participated in the event and the LEDC participates every year. The event provides children with games, activities and coloring books while parents visit other booths.

“A good education is important, and having the proper tools to receive a good education is also important,” said Gregory Merle, president of Riverview Energy, whose company donated the 120 backpacks that were handed out Wednesday evening. “Meeting the students at the event was a joy, and we’re looking forward to each and every one getting off to a strong start to a great school year.”

The event was held from 5 to 7 p.m. The North Spencer County School Corporation provided food and snacks for those who attended.
