Renovated movie theater reopensMay 30, 2014

JASPER — The Jasper 8 movie theater is celebrating its reopening today after more than a month of renovations.
Seats in all theaters have been replaced with new leather models. The carpeting and all of the arcade games are new as well, according to district manager Krista Boehman. The theater is now home to new digital projection and surround sound technology.
“The seats had been there for a long time and they were looking old. We just decided to go ahead and do them all so any movie you saw, you’d have the same comfort,” Boehman said. “A lot of our games were older and they were broken down.”
Streamlined food and drink combinations have also been added to the menu to make ordering easier for guests.
Jasper 8 was never completely closed during the construction, which began in early April, since much of the work was done during the overnight hours. The grand opening event from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today will feature prize booths, including the opportunity to win $101 and a one-year movie pass, as well as costumed characters.
