Registration open for Chalk WalkApril 30, 2019
JASPER — Jasper Community Arts Commission announces its 16th annual Chalk Walk Arts Festival will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1, on the Square in downtown Jasper. The rain date is June 8.
Regional and local artists will create sidewalk art in the tradition of European 16th Century “street paintings.” High school students and clubs may participate in group projects.
The arts festival offers a variety of hands-on activities for children, which are all part of the registration fee. Food and beverage booths will be available throughout the day.
The arts market features unique talents of regional artists and crafters in a variety of mediums, from jewelry and pottery to textiles and more.
Register by Monday, May 13, and receive a draw string bag filled with goodies, including a box of sidewalk chalk, a free medium pizza and a free T-shirt for $12. Registrations received after May 13 will not include a free T-shirt, but those may be ordered for an additional $8 while supplies last. Chalk Walk forms were distributed to local schools in March. Sign up online at jasperarts.corsizio.com, download forms from www.jasperarts.org, or pick up a form in person at the Jasper Arts Center.
Volunteers age 16 and older who wish to help should call the Jasper Arts Center at 812-482-3070. Volunteers and service groups are needed to help with set up, registration, craft booths and cleanup. Vendors for the arts market, food booths (non-profit groups, Destination Imagination teams, scout troops, church groups, and so forth) and community service booths are still being accepted. More details may be found at www.jasperarts.org.
For additional information, contact Event Coordinator Corina Mack, at 812-482-3070 or email JCAevents@jasperindiana.gov.
The annual Chalk Walk Arts Festival is supported by the Greater Jasper Downtown Business Association and Papa John’s Pizza, as well as many other local businesses and individuals.
