Registration open for ag economic summit

Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District with Dubois Strong will be hosting the Southwest Indiana Agricultural Economic Summit, geared toward updating local producers, agricultural businesses and financial institutions on the latest in economic programs, education and opportunities in the county. The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Vincennes University Jasper Center for Technology, Innovations and Manufacturing Theatre, 961 College Ave.

The topics and speakers are “New Agriculture Program at Vincennes University,” Dean Christian Blume, VUJC; “VUJC Land Stewardship Initiative,” Alan Smock, Dubois County SWCD associate supervisor, and Melissa Ruschau, SWDC LSI Project manager; “Agriculture at Vincennes University,” Dr. Charles Mansfield, Department of Geoscience, Agriculture and Horticulture, and Susan Brocksmith, Agribusiness Program chairwoman, both at Vincennes University;

“Opportunities in Indiana Agriculture,” Jordan Seger, Deputy Director, Indiana State Department of Agriculture;  of Ag); “Local Agriculture Connections: Cattle, Local Food Cooperative,” Dave Fischer, “Local Agriculture Connections: Forestry and Hardwood Industry Careers,” Chris Gonso, Hardwoods Program Manager, Indiana State Department of Agriculture; and “Agriculture Economic Outlook,” Jerry Conover, Director, Indiana Business Rearch Center, IU Kelly School of Business.
