The Jasper Reds split a doubleheader with the Music City Bulldogs on Saturday at Cumberland Univerity in Lebanon, Tenn., taking the first game 6-3 and dropping the second contest 7-2.
Jasper High School graduate Karson Nixon (1-1) pitched a complete game in the defeat, striking out 10; he also recorded 11 punch-outs in a victory the previous weekend.
Mitch Hunnicutt tossed six innings in the victory, striking out six and allowing just one walk. He improved to 2-0 on the season.
Jasper High School alum Logan Hettinger caught both games and fellow JHS grad Tory Hall doubled in the victory.
Also in the win, in which Jasper recorded five runs in the first inning as Music City committed three errors, Payton Karl finished with two hits and Davey Murphy added a triple for the Reds (3-1).
The Reds will welcome the Hoosier Baseball Club, a Bloomington-based squad, for a doubleheader Thursday at Ruxer Field. The first game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
