Reds record remains spotless

From Herald Staff Reports

Thanks to two solid pitching performances, the Jasper Reds made sure to keep a zero in the loss column as their 3-0 and 1-0 victories over the Western Kentucky Giants on Saturday at Ruxer Field improved the Reds record to 9-0 on the season.

In the first game, Bo Daves gave up just two hits in the victory to improve to 4-0 on the season. Daves had a no-hitter going into the seventh inning until the first two batters reached base in the inning with a single and a double. However, the runners were left stranded and Daves’ ERA remained a perfect 0.00 while also striking out 22 batters so far this season.

Game number two saw the Reds bring home the game winning run in the final inning without a hit as an error helped the Reds walk-off winners and conclude the doubleheader sweep. Kris Weisheit was victorious on the mound for the Reds as he gave up just four hits while Jacob Lents and Devan Franz both made spectacular catches in the outfield to prevent any Giant runs from scoring.
