Reds maintain spotless record

The Jasper Reds continued their winning ways this past weekened as they swept the Owensboro Hardballers at Ruxer Field by scores of 13-3 and 5-3 to improve to 11-0 on the season.

In the first game, pitcher Clayton Mayfield struck out eight batters to improve his record to 3-0 as he allowed just three hits, including two doubles. Austin Simmers paced the Reds offense in the first game with a double and two singles while Garrett Camp also added a double and a single.

In game number two, Kris Weisheit improved his record to 3-0 while Devan Franz came into the game to get the save as the Reds finished off a tight win. Simmers led the way at the plate once again with a bases-clearing triple and a single. He was the only Reds player to have multiple hits in the second game.
