Reds dominate doubleheader

The Jasper Reds announced their presence on Saturday afternoon at Ruxer Field with two dominating wins against Martinsville in a doubleheader. The Reds were victorious 18-2 and 18-0, both games ended in five innings.

Bo Daves nearly had a no-hitter in the second game of the day for the Reds but he lost his bid for a perfect game with one out in the final inning. Daves struck out five batters without allowing any Martinsville batters to reach on a free base.

Lane Kirkland was the Reds most dangerous offensive weapon as he hit a triple and two singles for six RBIs in the two games to improve his batting average to .765 for the season.

Jasper is now 7-0 on the season and will play another doubleheader this Saturday at Ruxer Field against the Western Kentucky Giants at 3 p.m.
