Recycling program nets half ton of lights

From Local Sources

The second annual Christmas light recycling program in Dubois County netted 1,096 pounds of Christmas lights, recycled at the Rural King and Solid Waste Management District Process Center dropoff locations in December and January. This is the second year in a row that a half ton of light strands were diverted from the landfill through this program.

“We are very pleased, and excited to get those strands of lights recycled. Recycling is part of a circular economy and helps our local one!” said Carla Striegel-Winner, director of the Dubois County Solid Waste Management District, the agency that oversees the program.

The district plans to offer the program again next season.
