Reckless driver complaint brings arrest

JASPER — Police responding to a reckless driver report arrested the motorist they stopped Monday.
The Jasper Police Department received a report at 11:34 a.m. about a passenger car in the area of 15th and Newton streets swerving all over the roadway and having struck a curb.
Police who stopped a 1988 Honda Accord driven by James R. Monroe Jr., 31, 2384 W. 460W, Jasper, said Monroe failed field sobriety testing and tested positive for THC in his system at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Monroe into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:18 p.m. on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony unlawful possession of a syringe and misdemeanor operating while intoxicated (endangerment), operating while intoxicated and possession of paraphernalia.
