JASPER — One vehicle was towed from the scene of a car-versus-SUV collision Thursday morning just south of Jasper.
Richard G. Dmello, 56, Newburgh, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2018 Toyota RAV4 when the 7:50 a.m. mishap occurred 750 feet south of State Road 162, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said Dmello slowed for traffic, and when he did, his SUV was rear-ended by a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Tammy J. Guth, 45, Huntingburg.
Guth had looked away from the roadway just before the collision and had not noticed the slowed traffic in time, according to the sheriff’s office.
Total damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
Guth’s car was towed from the scene by a Ruxer Ford wrecker.
