Rangers fall to North PoseySeptember 28, 2019
From local sources
POSEYVILLE — Just when it looked as if the Forest Park Rangers were on a roll, North Posey showed that all good things must come to an end.
Forest Park, winners of its previous two games by scores of 42-0 and 26-0, ran into a defensive nightmare Friday, as the Vikings turned the tables on the Rangers for a 24-11 verdict.
The Rangers managed only 126 total yards, compared to North Posey’s 309.
Drew Day and Jake Begle led the Forest Park rushing corps with 66 and 30 yards, respectively, but the Rangers found themselves outmanned at every turn.
The Vikings scored twice in the first quarter to effectively put the game out of reach, then added a field goal in the third period before adding a final touchdown in the fourth frame.
Forest Park tried to keep things close, scoring eight points in the first period when Cooper Uebelhor found Jared Schipp for a 25-yard touchdown in the final minute, then Gavin Knust bowled into the endzone for the two-point conversion.
The Rangers made it a 14-11 halftime score just 17 seconds before intermission when Abby Eckert kicked a 31-yard field goal.
The Rangers host South Spencer at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
