From Herald Staff Reports
In the first dual match of the fall season, Hannah Weyer and the rest of Forest Park’s girls golf team got things rolling with a four-stroke win Tuesday against against a county rival.
Weyer carded a round of 52 for medalist honors at Christmas Lake Golf Course in Santa Claus, where the Rangers (234) slipped past the Raiders (238). Southridge’s Olivia Mundy finished a shot off Weyer’s pace to register the second-best score of the day at 53.
Also for Forest Park, Brianne Seffernick was close behind Weyer with a 54, and Miranda Sermersheim offered a 59. Skyla McKim (67), Audrey Jones (69), McKayla McKim (69) and Emily Nord (70) completed the Ranger scorecard.
For the Raiders, contributions from Dalie Wibbeler (57), Morgan Stapleton (62), Megan Buechler (64), Lauren Springer (66), Macie Marley (68) and Payton Nalley (72) helped the Raiders kick off their season in the first outing for first-year coach Tom Collins.
Forest Park and Southridge will meet up again Saturday, when both squads compete in the Gibson Southern Invitational along with Heritage Hills. Forest Park has another dual match slated before the weekend invite, as the Rangers visit Springs Valley on Thursday.
