Rain factors into Jasper-area mishap
July 5, 2019From Local Sources
JASPER — Rain factored into a single-vehicle accident just northeast of Jasper Sunday night.
Amaya J. Beier, 18, Jasper, was backing a 2009 Ford Expedition on a private drive in the 400 block of County Road 400N at the time of the 9:50 p.m. mishap, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said rain at the time made for poor visibility and Beier was unable to see she was backing off the edge of an embankment.
The SUV slid downward and the rear of the vehicle hit a tree, shattering its rear window.
Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
A Berg’s Garage wrecker assisted.
