Rain factors into Jasper-area collisionJuly 26, 2019
From Local Sources
JASPER — Rain factored into a two-vehicle collision Sunday evening east of Jasper.
Karen M. Neu, 58, Jasper, was eastbound on State Road 164 in a 1996 Geo Tracker when the 6:42 p.m. accident occurred at County Road 325E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Neu stopped to turn off the highway and, when she did, her SUV was rear-ended by a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Paige N. Knies, 18, Celestine, according to a sheriff’s deputy.
Knies said it was raining so hard she could barely see out her windshield and did not see the stopped vehicle in time.
There were no injuries but the Neu Tracker was towed by a Uebelhor & Sons wrecker.
Total damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
