Racism should be long ago in the past
July 10, 2020To the editor:
Thank you, Jonathan Saxon, for your story "Being Black in Jasper more than skin color" that appeared in The Herald, Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Kudos to Jonathan for a fantastic story!
Jasper is a great place to raise a family. I was born and raised here as my husband and children were, but I am saddened that some of our residents have not been kind to some of our Black residents. So sad!
I don't know why some people find it so hard to show respect to others. Racism should be long ago in the past. It is sad that racism is still so prevalent. Our country consists of all races, ethnicities and religious affiliations and we all want the same thing — to live in a safe place to raise our families.
So, please, let's be respectful and kind to everyone.
