Purdue Alumni Club awards scholarships

The Purdue Alumni Club of Dubois County announces the Virgil “Gus” Grissom Memorial Scholarship award recipients of the Class of 2019. Each will be awarded a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to further their education at Purdue University in West Lafayette this fall. This year’s recipients are Lucas Bauer, Tyler Kluemper and Austin Rawlins from Jasper High School and Garrett Betz from Forest Park High School.

 

Bauer is the son of Ken Bauer of Jasper. He plans to attend Purdue University to study chemical engineering. He has been active in the National Honor Society, Business Professionals of America, Student Club and Spanish. He also has competed in cross country and track and field.

 

 

 

 

 

Kluemper is the son of Jim and Amanda Kluemper of Jasper. He has been active in Octagon, Key and Spanish clubs, Students Against Destructive Decisions, National Honor Society and Health Occupations Students of America. He plans to attend Purdue University to study nursing.

 

 

 

 

 

Rawlins will be attending Purdue University to major in computer science. He is the son of Brian and Stepanie Rawlins of Jasper. He is been active in soccer, marching and concert bands, ice hockey, scouting and Scratch Radio. He is an Eagle Scout.


 

 

 

 

 

Betz is the son of Brian and Sara Betz of St. Anthony. He plans to attend Purdue to major in mechanical engineering. He has been active on the basketball and cross country teams, Student Council, Spirit and Beta clubs, National Honor Society and SADD.
