Purdue 17-Year Cicada Workshop Offered

Purdue Extension will be hosting a workshop for homeowners and the general public on the upcoming emergence of the 17-year cicada.  The event will take place on April 27, 2021 starting at 6:30 PM EST at the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds Clover Pavilion, 4157 S SR 162, Huntingburg, IN.

Participants will learn about the emerging "Brood X" periodic cicada and their life cycles, potential damage to trees and landscaping, their effects on pets, and even cicada recipes ("taste like crab, but with subtle overtones of boiled peanuts").

The event is open to the public, and there is no charge to attend.  COVID-19 precautions will be maintained for those attending, including masks, hand washing, social distancing, and on-site registration. This event will occur indoors.  Additional information at kjeck@purdue.edu orph. (812)482-1782.
