Public invited to ‘Be a King’ event

From Local Sources

JASPER — One-Dubois County is inviting the public to join in a celebration of the legacy and enduring ideals of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Kids of all ages and adults are welcome to attend the “Be a King” event from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Jasper Community Satellite Art Space. The Satellite is located below the Jasper swimming pool, near Jaycee Park.

The event includes a reading of the children’s book “Be a King” by Carole Boston Weatherford. Attendees will also have the opportunity to paint a 4x4 tile with their ideas and commitment to “Be A King” for their community. The tiles will be framed in a mosaic that will be hung in a yet-to-be-determined location. Attendees will also write individual dreams for our county and community and attach them to biodegradable balloons that will be released at the conclusion of the evening.
