Psychiatrist joins hospital staff

JASPER — Psychiatrist Bilal Ahmed, M.D., has been appointed to the medical staff at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. He will serve as a staff psychiatrist with the hospital’s behavioral health services and the new Caring Hands Senior Services.


Ahmed received his medical degree at King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan, and completed a psychiatry residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed a fellowship at Louisiana State University in New Orleans in geriatric psychiatry. Since then, he has provided both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment to adult and geriatric patients in Tennessee. He also spent time as assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.

He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in the specialty of psychiatry and subspecialty of geriatric psychiatry.
