Psi Iota XiMay 17, 2021
The May meeting of the Zeta Mu chapter of Psi Iota Xi was called to order by President Ginger Hedinger at 6:30 p.m. at the Schnitzelbank Restaurant with 17 members and two Honorary Retired members present.
Language and Literacy Chairman Lynn Arthur reported 25 students have enrolled and one teacher has been hired. She is searching for a second teacher. The Ccmp will run from June 7 until July 1 at Shiloh Church. Nan Mehringer, chairman of the Strassenfest Wine and Art Festival, reported she will order the wine glasses in June.
Kathy Johannemann and Ginger Hedinger will be attending the National Convention to be held June 25-27 at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.
Patty Boeglin will host lunch bunch on May 21 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mill House restaurant. Members planning to attend should let Patty know. Birthday greetings were given to Lynn Arthur.
The June meeting will be held at Ginger Hedinger’s house unless it rains. If it rains, members will be notified of the meeting relocation to the Jasper Group Event room. The meeting will be held June 8 at 6:30 p.m. Members are asked to bring a food item for a carry-in meal.
Following the meeting, the Awards/Installation Banquet was held. The following members received perfect attendance certificates: Lynn Arthur, Patty Cox, Sharon Cox, Leisa Lowrey and Deb Stemle. Deb Stemle was recognized for 25 active years and Sharon Cox was recognized for 45 active years of service. Leisa Lowrey received the Psi Ote of the Year award for her many contributions to our club. Vice President Paula Marshall presented Ginger Hedinger with a gift of appreciation for her hard work as president. Patty Cox installed the officers: Ginger Hedinger, President; Lynn Arthur, Vice President; Leisa Lowrey, Treasurer and Patty Boeglin, Secretary.
Following the awards, the meal was served and a game of “Art, Literature & Music Bingo” was played with Joetta Jones being the winner, and a game of “The Price is Right - Art, Literature and Music” version was played with Cynthia Kempf being the winner. Door prizes of spider plants and snake plants were awarded to Patty Cox, Pauline Vonderheide, Sharon Cox, Lynn Maitlen and Cynthia Kempf.

Local fundraisers support our Language and Literacy Camp held each summer in the month of June, a college scholarship, Jasper Community Arts as well as other community projects. The main mission of the Psi Iota Xi sorority is promoting art, music, literature, and speech and hearing.
