The Nov. 10 meeting of the Zeta Mu chapter of Psi Iota Xi was called to order by President Ginger Hedinger at 6:30 p.m. at the Jasper Group Event room with 11 members present. The meeting began with the recitation of the opening verse.
Roll call was taken with members answering to their favorite Thanksgiving food. Guest Terri Ressler, the Southwest District officer, was introduced.
Ways and Means Chairman Marci Backer reported there are 43 bags of extra nuts/candy to be sold. Terri Lynn is giving a rebate for sales over 10% of last year’s sales, which we achieved. This rebate should be received in January.
Pam Jarboe invited everyone to the Christmas party to be held at our regular business meeting on December 8th at the Jasper Group Event room with the meeting at 6:30 p.m. and the dinner/Christmas party to follow at 7 p.m. Members are asked to RSVP by Nov. 23 to Pam Jarboe. This year’s charity donations will go to the Community Corrections Center.
Leisa Lowrey checked on the Hoosier Salon painting from 1979 that was donated to the city library to verify it will be displayed when the new Library/Cultural Center is completed. The painting was found and will find a new home in the new library.
Secretary Patty Boeglin read Myrna Hall’s request for a change of status to inactive for the remainder of the year. The note was from September. The request was approved. A thank-you letter from Holy Trinity for our donation to their music program and a thank you letter from Jasper Community Arts for our donation were read.
Southwest District Officer Terri Ressler commended our club for the work that our chapter has accomplished and our perseverance through the pandemic.
Deb Stemle displayed the Auxiliary Charter from May 23, 1972, and a picture of the original members that were recently found. It was proposed that in January, after our meeting or another day, members sort through our archives of memorabilia and determine records/items that need to be preserved.
A discussion was held of ideas for spring fundraisers to replace the Strassenfest fundraiser that was canceled last summer.
Lunch Bunch will be hosted by Leisa Lowrey at Hosty’s on Nov. 17 from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Any member planning to attend should RSVP to Leisa.
Joetta Jones won the door prize. November birthday greetings were given to Patty Boeglin, Joetta Jones, Leisa Lowrey and Sharon Cox.
The meeting adjourned after recitation of the Closing verse. Following the meeting, members enjoyed games of Sorority Bingo with Patty Cox winning and Charades for fun.
The next meeting will be held Dec. 8 at Jasper Group Event room with the meeting at 6:30 p.m. and the Christmas meal/party following.

Local fundraisers support our Language and Literacy Camp held each summer in the month of June, a college scholarship, Jasper Community Arts as well as other community projects. The main mission of the Psi Iota Xi sorority is promoting art, music, literature and speech and hearing.
