Promo night set for 5th St. Meinrad Rocks! FestAugust 19, 2015
From Local Sources
ST. MEINRAD — A St. Meinrad Rocks! Fest promo night will take place Friday, Sept. 4 at Ron’s Place, 504 N. Van Buren St., Huntingburg.
In Society’s Eyes, an acoustic duo from Evansville will kick the night off at 8:30 p.m. with a set of original music. The group includes lead vocalist Kaylah Goines and guitarist and vocalist Jacob Brown.
“Expressing ourselves through music is honestly the only way to show who we really are. Society may see us many different ways, but all we can really do is portray ourselves the best we can,” the duo says.
Local favorite Silly Rules will take the stage at 10 p.m. Band members Don Lee, bass bass guitar; Kenny Lowe, lead vocals; Phil “The Excitement,” guitar and vocals; Eddie Strange, guitar and vocals; and Jeremy Cassell, drums can be seen on stages throughout southern Indiana and Kentucky.
For show dates and up-to-date band information, follow the performers on Facebook at www.facebook.com/insocietyseyesmusic and www.facebook.com/SillyRulesBand.
Throughout the night there will be a number of giveaways, including St. Meinrad Rocks! shirts and tickets to the event.
The 2015 St. Meinrad Rocks! Fest benefit event will take place at the St. Meinrad Park on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25 and 26.
This year’s event will again feature a beer garden, children’s activities and music by approximately 20 acts — bands and solo acts; returning favorites and newcomers. Concessions and merchandise will be sold.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the “St. Meinrad Rocks! Fest” fund, created via the Spencer County Community Foundation to help preserve the beauty and history of St. Meinrad.
“It is my hope that these funds will eventually help to create a permanent display and the continued preservation of town memorabilia and historical pieces,” organizer Carol (Ubelhor) Troesch said.
Direct tax-deductible contributions to the fund can be mailed to the Spencer County Community Foundation at https://communityfoundation.wufoo.com/forms/gifts-to-the-spencer-county-community-foundation/
