Progressives usher in era of disappearing freedoms

To the editor:

Observing that the world is upside down results in the expression of a gut feeling within each of us that is difficult to articulate. A number of writers have recently begun exploring a larger perspective that is helpful. Publius Hulda noted, “This is The Age of Ignorance. Our ”˜intellectuals’ can’t think. Our ”˜scholars’ parrot each other. The self-educated fixate on idiotic theories. Our people despise truth and disseminate lies.”

Commenting from a different perspective, another writer observed, “We now live in a society where lawyers destroy justice, governments destroy freedom, the press destroys information and the financial elites are destroying the economy. The policies of the central banks are wrecking the capital structures, the economic structures, the banking structure and the monetary structure to cover government debt and prop up the financial sector.”

Like deer caught in the headlights, we, the people, stand frozen as helpless captives of a corrupt system fashioned by political harlots and crony capitalists sensing something awful comes our way. Just like frogs placed in a pot of tepid water, it is difficult for the average person to discern how the nature of our country has been fundamentally transformed over the last century.

For folks old enough to remember, they know we once lived in a country where the rule of law prevailed, our God-given rights were actually protected and we had a country where individuals were free to live a responsible life of their choice and where a vibrant civil society generated an abundance of opportunity and prosperity.
Life has turned, however. In the brave new world being ushered in by progressives, children belong to the community, the right of conscience is ignored, Big Brother nullifies your right to privacy, the state creates circumstances where your right to due process no longer applies and your Second Amendment right to self-defense will be trashed. What you feel in your gut is rejection of the Constitution by these elite statists with one set of rules for themselves and another set for everyone else.

Choose! The Constitution and individual accountability or servitude to the state.
