Presentation looks at Matthew’s advice

FERDINAND — A presentation on Matthew’s advice is planned from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 3 and 4, at the Monastery Immaculate Conception, 802 E. 10th St. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. The content will be different each night.

The presenter is Father Eugene Hensell, OSB, a monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey. Father Hensell has a doctorate in Scripture and is an associate professor of Scripture in the Seminary and School of Theology. Currently, he gives Biblical retreats to laity, religious groups and clergy throughout the country.

Matthew’s story carries a vision of the human condition that provides people with a stance toward life, a way to view the world in which they live. People pray and study the story to assimilate its vision and to integrate the values, attitudes and convictions that arise from that vision. Although Matthew’s story cannot directly shape a person’s decisions, it can shape them — the decision-makers. Matthew’s vision urges his community and urges everyone to let these values inform their lives.
