Thursday night football boring as sin? Perhaps you should have seen one of the many local games that occured Thursday night. Here's a recap of the action.
Rangers 3, Raiders 2: Forest Park and Southridge had themselves a good old conference clash that required the entire five set limit. It was a back and forth affair throughout the night, but the Rangers outlasted the Raiders to emerge victorious. Myah Montgomery led the Raiders with 11 kills, and Rose Tempel chipped in 10. Maddy Songer had 21 assists, and Tatiana Delgado had 25 digs.
Patriots 3, Bears 0: Heritage Hills continued on their hot streakin sweeping Evansville Harrison for their seventh win in a row. Wes Cochren had 12 kills, Hannah Marchand had 28 assists, and Hannah Schnuck finished with 14 digs.
Prep Girls Soccer
Rangers 4, Titans 0: Forest Park produced a shutout effort against Gibson Southern for their fifth straight conference win and upped their current win streak to seven in a row. Denai Sicard had a pair of goals, and Lauren Jahn had two assists in the winning effort.
Prep Boys Soccer
Wildcats 2, Huskies 2: Jasper battled Evansville North hard for 80 minutes and managed to force a tie near the close of the game. The Huskies scored twice in the first ten minutes, but the Wildcats were able to get one back before the half and scored the tying goal with four minutes left to play. Jackson Kabrick had both scores for Jasper.
Prep Boys Tennis
Raiders 4, Warriors 1: Southridge put on another rousing performance as they increased their winning streak to seven straight with a victory over Evansville Harrison. Austin Barkley swept one singles 6-0, 6-0. Max Rasche was equally as impressive in his 6-2, 6-1 win at three singles. Ethan Bell and Sam Sermersheim dominated their one doubles match 6-2, 6-0, while Konner Thyen and Levi Schaeffer took the doubles match 6-0, 6-2.
Wildcats 3, Panthers 2: Jasper picked up a big Thursday night as they knocked off No. 11 Bloomington South. Max Sternberg posted a comeback in one singles to win it 2-6, 7-5, 6-4. Mitch Kluemper and Grant Stratton were victorious at one doubles 6-0, 6-1. Jobe Luebbehusen and Hudson Himsel also cleaned up at two doubles 6-1, 6-2.
Jeeps 3, Patriots 2: Northeast Dubois crossed county lines to face Heritage Hills and managed to escape with a close win over the Pats. Reece Bauer defeated Josh Dellamuth 6-2, 6-1 at one singles. Ethan Zielger and Luke Harder (6-2, 6-1) along with Tanner Hurt and Ross Mehrigner (6-0, 6-2) took home wins in the doubles matches.
