A number of tennis, golf, volleyball, and cross country teams were in action on Monday night. Some tasted victory, while others learned about where they had to get stronger. Here's the results from last night's action.
Raiders 4, Pioneers 1: The Southridge boys tennis team hosted Boonville, and posted strong performances all around to start the fall. Nearly everyone was victorious in their matches with the lone loss coming in a close, tiebreaking third set as. Austin Barkely defeated Zeb Miles in the No. 1 singles match (6-2, 6-1), while No. 2 singles player Owen Kinkler was victorious over Camden Greer (7-5, 6-3). Max Rasche fell to Nick Hyndman in the No. 3 singles match (6-4, 3-6, 9-11). Ethan Bell and Sam Sermersheim trumped Drew Richardson and Brandon Watts in No. 1 doubles play (6-3, 6-0), and Konner Thyen and Levi Schaeffer downed Braden Chapman and Will Fardig in No. 2 doubles play (6-0, 6-0).
Jasper takes top spot at Christmas Lake: The Jasper Wildcats posted a team score of 202 to win their match last night at the Christmas Lake Golf Course. Halle Knies had a 47, while Elizabeth Ackerman shot a 48. Forest Park finished second with a 216, with Grace Wendholt leading with a 51 followed by Maya Jones and Makayla McKim, whom each had a 53. Heritage Hills finished fourth overall with a 230. Grace Mangan had 55, while Sarah Mangan finished with a 56.
Jeeps leave Alice Relays with three in the top 10: Northeast Dubois competed at the Alice Relays and let with three pairs of relay teams finishing in the top 10. Pierce Brinkman and Jordan Schweikarth finished third overall with a time of 34:57. Trevor Beuchler and Shelby Livingston took seventh at 38:06, and Ethan Fromme and Sarah Livingston finished eighth with a time of 38:33.
Patriots 3, Bulldogs 0: Heritage Hills went into Evansville and emerged to sweep Bosse 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-9). Rebekah Gordon led all scorers with seven kills. Hannah Schnuck had 17 digs and three aces, while Hannah Marchand finished with 17 assists.
Jeeps 3, Trojans 0: Northeast Dubois opened their season with a resounding win as they swept Wood Memorial 3-0 (25-13, 26-24, 25-13). Hadley Fuhrman finished with 10 kills and two blocks. Chloe Terwiske had 24 assists, eight digs, and five assists.
Braves 3, Rangers 1: Forest Park took on Tecumseh at home, but couldn't harness the home court magic as they fell in four sets (21-25, 19-25, 25-21, 16-25). Kennedy Sermersheim had 11 kills, Kylie Giesler had 28 assists, Faith Zazzetti had seven blocks, and Macie Zink had nine digs.
