Prep sports wrap: 9/19

Bounce back victories and conference W’s were a big part of Tuesday’s prep sports action. Here’s a brief rundown of what you might have missed last night.

Boys Soccer


Patriots 5, Bears 1: The Heritage Hills boys soccer team rebounded after Monday’s loss to Jasper by scoring four goals in the first half en route to a 5-1 victory over Evansville Central.

Goal scorers were Carson Leibering, Jose Lara, Gabe Staggs, Gannon Staggs and Leo Martinez. Assists came from Lara, Luke Leffert and Mitch Blasdel.

Girls Soccer
Wildcats 4, Hatchets 0: The Jasper girls soccer team improved to a perfect 5-0 in Big Eight conference play with a road victory over Washington on Tuesday evening.

Kara Krueger scored two goals to bring her season total to 19 while Regan Mundy scored her 14th goal of the year and Gabby Budd scored her 11th. Mundy, Krueger, Annie Donato and Leah Schnell all had assists.

Wildcats 5, Hatchets 0: The Jasper boys tennis team traveled to Washington where the Wildcats came away with a victory over their fellow Big Eight foe.

Victorious for the Cats was Eli Franks (No. 1 singles), Michael Kluemper (No. 2 singles), Max Sternberg (No. 3 singles), Mitch Kluemper/Bennett Schmitt (No. 1 doubles) and Hudson Himsel/Jobe Luebbehusen (No. 2 doubles).

Raiders 5, Marksmen 0: The Southridge boys tennis team cruised to a road PAC victory over Tell City on Tuesday afternoon.

Winners for the Raiders were Carson Mundy (No. 1 singles), Owen Kinker (No. 2 singles), Austin Barkley (No. 3 singles), Michael Kappner/Garrett Altmeyer (No. 1 doubles) and Alex Biehl/Max Rasche (No. 2 doubles).

Jeeps 4, Cardinals 1: Northeast Dubois recorded a home victory on Tuesday afternoon over Bloomfield with all of the Jeeps victories coming in straight sets.

Northeast Dubois received points from Reece Bauer (No. 1 singles), Ethan Ziegler (No. 2 singles), Luke Harder (No. 3 singles) and Logan Mehringer/Lane Knies (No. 1 doubles).

L. Smallwood

Patriots 5, Vikings 0: The Heritage Hills boys tennis team improved to 7-0 in Pocket Athletic conference play with a home victory over North Posey on Tuesday.

Victorious for the Patriots was Logan Smallwood (No. 1 singles), Josh Dellamuth (No. 2 singles), Zack Weaver (No. 3 singles), JT Smallwood/Luke Peters (No. 1 doubles) and Josh Nelson/Blake Sisley (No. 2 doubles).

Jasper 3, Evansville Mater Dei 0: In a battle of Wildcats, Jasper cruised to a 3-0 victory at home over Evansville Mater Dei defeating them by a score of 25-15, 26-24, 25-21.

Stat leaders for Jasper were Regan Egbert (22 kills), Taylor Wildman (seven kills, two aces), Natalie Wigand (43 assists, two aces, 17 digs), Meredith Hilgefort (12 kills, 14 digs, two blocks) and Rylee Hedinger (14 digs).

Vikings 3, Raiders 0: In a PAC battle, North Posey came away with a victory in straight sets over Southridge in Huntingburg on Tuesday.

Stat leaders for Southridge were Anna Altstadt (10 kills, six assists, four blocks), Savannah Goeppner (11 assists), Tatiana Delgado (22 digs) and Amanda Brewer (18 digs, two aces).
