Prep sports wrap: 8/28August 28, 2018

While Monday nights aren’t typically the busiest prep sports nights, every area boys tennis team was in action along with a golf match and soccer game taking place as well last evening.
Here’s a brief rundown of Monday’s prep sports action.
Pats fall to Panthers, Marksmen: The Heritage Hills girls golf team battled Corydon Central (181) and Tell City (238) on Monday evening at Hoosier Heights and finished third overall with a score of 245.
Heritage Hills was led by Taylor Klem who shot a 58 while Nadia Rodriguez (59), Jayden Reyes (62), Selena Barrientos (66), Katelyn Davis (66), Maricruz Prado (67) and Lucia Yanez (73) followed.
Corydon Central’s Cami Schmitt was the match medalist with a score of 41.
Rangers 10, Vikings 0: In a battle of Pocket Athletic Conference foes, Forest Park cruised to a dominating win over North Posey in Poseyville on Monday.
The Rangers scored seven first-half goals and added three more in the second half to pad their lead. Kenlee Gehlausen led in scoring with a hat-trick while Lauren Jahn scored a pair. Claire Mehling, Denai Sicard, Abby Eckert and Layla Weyer all also had goals. Mehling, Jahn and Sicard had assists in the win. There was also a North Posey own goal in the victory.
Wildcats 5, Pioneers 0: The Jasper boys tennis team traveled south to Clarksville to take on Providence where the Wildcats were victorious in a clean sweep.
Winning for the Cats was Eli Franks, Michael Kluemper and Max Sternberg at the singles positions and Bennett Schmitt/Mitch Kluemper and Grant Stratton/Jobe Luebbehusen at the two doubles spots.
Alices 4, Raiders 1: Southridge traveled to Vincennes on Monday to take on a tough Lincoln squad and were defeated 4-1.
The lone win for the Raiders came at the No. 2 doubles spot where Alex Biehl and Max Rasche were victorious 6-4, 6-1.
Rangers 3, Braves 2: In a nail-biting Pocket Athletic Conference battle, Forest Park sneaked out a narrow win over Tecumseh in Lynnville.
Two of the Ranger victories came in tight three-set battles as No. 1 singles Reid Steffe was victorious 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 and No. 1 doubles Aaron Hurst/Joseph Hurst were victorious 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. No. 2 singles Nathan Jarboe cruised to victory at the No. 2 singles spot by winning 6-4, 6-3.
Jeeps 5, Marksmen 0: The Northeast Dubois boys tennis team cruised to victory over Tell City on Monday night in Dubois.
Reece Bauer, Ethan Ziegler and Logan Lampert were all victorious at the singles positions while Lane Knies/Logan Mehringer and Tucker Neukam/Ross Mehringer were winners at the doubles spots. The Jeeps dropped just two individual games in the match.
Patriots 5, Bulldogs 0: The Heritage Hills boys tennis team was as dominant as you could be Monday night. The Pats cruised to a complete clean sweep as they didn’t drop a single game en route to the 5-0 victory over Evansville Bosse.
Logan Smallwood, Josh Dellamauth and Zack Weaver were victorious at the singles spots while JT Smallwood/Luke Peters and Josh Nelson/Blake Sisley were winners at the two doubles tandems.
